これまでになかった美濃焼の絵付け体験から茶会をテーマに、ミシュラングリーンガイドで２つ星に認定されている幸兵衛窯を訪ねて八代 加藤幸兵衛より人間の根源・本質をテーマに、鋭い現代感覚の作品や美濃焼の魅力について学びます。さらに、人間国宝の茶器で国際建築家磯崎新さんデザインの懸舟庵で作法を学び茶会をおこないます。また、国宝永保寺『観音寺』拝観を実施します。

Kokeizan Eihoji Temple is a historical site that Tajimi City is proud of. Its honorific mountain name, prefixed to a temple’s name, is Kokeizan (Mt. Kokei). It is said that the name Kokei (虎渓) comes from the scenery of the temple’s location, which resembles that of Hu-xi (虎渓) in Lushan, China. This Zen Buddhist temple was founded during the Kamakura period (Late 12th to early 13th century). The Kannon-do and Kaizan-do halls are designated as national treasures, and the stroke-style garden around the large pond is designated as a spot of national scenic beauty. Kannon-do hall, built in 1314, is the most important main shrine among the Zen Buddhist temples. Kaizan-do hall was built in 1352. and Buttoku Zen Master, another founder. In the back of the shrine you can find the hōkyōintō, a Japanese pagoda of Buttoku Zen Master. The garden is also known to have been designed by Muso Soseki, known as an excellent Ishidate-monk (a monk with advanced gardening skills). It was built by skillfully utilizing the natural topography and landscape, and is said to have great value as a garden of a medieval Zen temple. In autumn, the entire area is brightly colored with autumn leaves, and the 700-year-old ginkgo tree glows golden yellow. Therefore, it is crowded with many tourists visiting from all over Japan. The autumn leaves at Eihoji Temple have been selected as one of the 33 best autumn leaf spots in Hida-Mino.

Ceramics Park MINO, befitting its location, is equipped with facilities that offer a variety of ways to enjoy ceramics from around the world. It is truly a combination of culture and industry that will carry the future of ceramic culture. The Museum of Modern Ceramic Art, Gifu, located within this facility, collects, stores, and introduces modern and contemporary ceramic works from Japan and abroad, with the theme of ‘‘Contemporary Ceramics.’’ Exhibitions held five to eight times a year convey the current state of ceramic art from various angles.
